Buyer’s Guide

How to choose the best cobra driver

The Cobra driver was designed by John Jacobs who wanted to create a club that could be played with ease and accuracy. He created the Cobra because he felt there was no other driver available that offered both power and forgiveness. In addition he believed that his design would allow players to hit shots with greater consistency and control.

Cobra drivers are known for being very forgiving and easy to swing. However they aren’t necessarily easier to play than other drivers. For example the TaylorMade M2 driver has been praised for its ability to produce high launch angles while still maintaining distance.

There isn’t really a benefit to using a Cobra driver over another type of club. While many golfers enjoy playing with a Cobra driver others prefer to stick with traditional irons.

Yes cobras are typically made with different materials than traditional iron sets. Most commonly these include titanium steel graphite and beryllium. Titanium is lightweight and strong making it ideal for creating a lighter weight set. Graphite offers increased strength and durability which makes it perfect for producing higher launch angles. Beryllium is extremely light and durable making it ideal for creating a stiffer shaft.

No you cannot use a Cobra driver as an iron. Although the head shape of a Cobra driver resembles that of a fairway woods it is actually classified as a hybrid.

The Importance of Purchasing a Quality Cobra Driver

Cobra Golf Drivers are designed to be the most forgiving type of club available today. In fact Cobra has been known to say that its drivers are “the best drivers ever”. With a reputation like that you’d think that Cobra would be able to produce a high-quality product. But there’s no doubt that Cobra does deliver a top-notch driver. So why is Cobra considered to be the best driver around? Let’s take a closer look at the features of Cobra drivers.

Quality Materials Used To Build Cobras

One thing that sets Cobra apart from other manufacturers is the materials used to build these drivers. Most companies use cheap plastic parts to construct their drivers. While this material works fine for many applications it isn’t suitable for a driver because it lacks durability. Cobra uses only premium grade steel throughout its entire line of drivers. This makes Cobra drivers stronger and more durable than anything else on the market. Not only does this give Cobra drivers superior strength it also gives them a sleek appearance. Many other brands use cheaper materials that aren’t nearly as strong as those used by Cobra. As a result Cobra drivers are far more likely to break than others.

High-Performance Shaft Construction

Another reason Cobra drivers stand above the rest is due to the way they’re constructed. Cobra uses a unique shaft construction method called “taper weight” which results in a very powerful yet extremely light head. Taper weight technology was developed by Cobra founder John Cobb who wanted to create a lightweight driver that could still provide maximum distance. He succeeded in creating a driver that delivers exceptional performance while weighing significantly less than competitors’ models. Another benefit of using taper weight technology is that it creates a consistent swingweight across the entire range of Cobra drivers. This ensures that each driver swings exactly the same regardless of loft.

Customizable Face Design

Cobra offers several different face designs including standard wide open faces square faces and offset faces. Each design has its own advantages and disadvantages. For example a standard face is easier to hit straight shots whereas a square face is more effective for slicing and hooking.

Features To Look For When Buying A Cobra Driver

The Cobra driver has been around since the early 1900’s. The Cobra was originally designed to be a putter-type club however due to its unique design it became popular among many different types of players. Today there are several different models available each offering a variety of features and benefits. Here are some of the most important factors to take into consideration when purchasing a Cobra driver.

Cobra Head Shape

One of the main differences between Cobra drivers is the head shape. There are two main head shapes; square and round. Square heads are typically found in traditional putters while round heads are more commonly seen in fairway woods. Both styles provide excellent forgiveness which makes them ideal for beginners who are learning proper putting technique. However because both designs are forgiving they are best suited for those who already possess good putting skills.

Weight Distribution

Another key factor to consider when choosing a Cobra driver is weight distribution. Most Cobra drivers weigh somewhere between 10 – 12 ounces. While this isn’t necessarily heavy it does require a certain amount of strength to swing properly. In order to achieve maximum distance you must maintain a balanced swing throughout the entire stroke. Therefore it is essential that you select a driver that feels comfortable in your hands. Some manufacturers include additional weights inside the shaft to increase the overall weight of the clubhead.

Length

While length is generally determined by personal preference it is still important to note that shorter drivers are easier to hit and control. As a general rule the average golfer should aim to strike the ball within 3 inches of the centerline of the face. Shorter drivers allow you to get closer to the target line making it easier to consistently land shots close to the pin.

Shaft Flex

As mentioned earlier Cobra drivers are known for being very forgiving. Because of this they are typically equipped with flexible shafts. Although flexibility is beneficial too much flex can cause the clubface to open up during impact. This results in inconsistent contact points causing poor accuracy.

Different Types Of Cobra Drivers

Cobra driver is a type of golf club which has been around since the early 1900’s. The name “cobra” comes from its shape which resembles a cobra snake. There are many different types of Cobra drivers available today.
