How to choose the best pianos

The piano has been around since ancient times. In fact there was a musical instrument called the harpsichord which was invented during the Renaissance period (1400-1600). However the modern day piano was developed in 17th century France. At that point the piano became popular among aristocrats because it could be played while sitting comfortably in a chair. Today the piano is still considered a luxury item due to its high price tag. But if you’re interested in purchasing a piano here are some reasons why you should get one.

It Makes Music More Enjoyable

Music is meant to bring joy into our lives. Whether you play music for fun or professionally playing the piano makes music enjoyable. Playing the piano requires concentration and practice. So if you enjoy making music you’ll love playing the piano. Also if you’ve ever seen someone who plays the piano you’d notice that they seem happier than those who don’t play.

It Helps With Memory

Playing the piano improves memory skills. Studies show that practicing the piano increases brain activity and stimulates the hippocampus region of the brain. This part of the brain controls short term memory. As a result you’ll remember where you put objects and learn new information faster.

It Improves Concentration

Learning to play the piano takes lots of practice. To become proficient at playing the piano you must concentrate on each note and chord. Therefore learning to play the piano improves your ability to concentrate.

It Can Help Build Self Confidence

Piano lessons teach children self confidence. Children who take piano classes develop a sense of accomplishment and pride. Learning to play the piano teaches kids discipline and patience. For example if you’re taking piano lessons you’ll probably have to practice several hours per week. This gives you plenty of opportunity to improve your skill level.

It Gives Kids An Interest In Music

Children who play the piano grow up to be musicians. Many famous artists started playing the piano as young children.

Purchasing a piano is a big decision. There are many different types of pianos available today. Some are built for beginners while others are designed for advanced players. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Choosing the right instrument for you depends on several factors including your budget skill level and personal preferences. Here are three important questions to ask yourself before making a final choice.

How Much Do You Want To Spend?

Do You Have Any Experience Playing Pianos?

Are You Looking For Something With Great Sound?

There are two main categories of pianos – acoustic and electronic. Acoustic pianos produce sound using hammers striking strings inside the piano. Electronic pianos use sensors to detect the vibrations produced by keys being pressed. Both types of pianos require maintenance and tuning. However there are differences between these two types of instruments. An acoustic piano requires regular servicing and maintenance. In addition it needs to be tuned regularly because each key produces slightly different tones. An electric piano does not require regular service and maintenance. However it must be serviced periodically because the sensor detects only certain frequencies.

Buying a piano is a big investment. Before deciding whether or not to invest in a piano think carefully about why you want to play the piano. Is it for fun or for business purposes? Are you planning to learn to play the piano? Will you be playing solo or performing with others? How long will you be playing? Once you’ve answered these questions you can decide which type of piano best suits your needs.

Types of Pianos Available Today

Today there are many different types of pianos available. Most of them fall into two broad categories: grand pianos and upright pianos. Grand pianos are large concert-style pianos that are typically found in music stores. Upright pianos are smaller versions of grand pianos. They’re generally found in department stores and discount retailers.

Features To Look For When Buying A Piano!

Pianos are instruments that require a lot of practice to master. However there are many features that you must take into consideration when purchasing a piano.

Sound Quality

This is probably the most important factor to consider when choosing a piano. The best way to determine whether a particular piano sounds good is to play it. Picking up a piano and playing it is the only way to really hear its true tone. Some pianos produce a very bright sound while others have a mellow tone. In general hardwoods give a brighter sound while soft woods provide a warmer tone.

Type of Strings Used

Hardwood strings are generally considered superior to softwood strings because they last longer and produce a richer sound. Softwood strings are cheaper and easier to maintain however they wear out faster and eventually become brittle. Hardwood strings are available in different gauges ranging from light gauge to heavy gauge. Light-gauge strings are softer and lighter in weight. Heavy-gauge strings are thicker and heavier.

Number of Keys

Most pianos today have 88 keys. However some models have fewer keys.

Action Mechanism

An action mechanism is responsible for lifting the hammers and striking the strings. There are two types of actions: mechanical and electronic. Mechanical actions are still widely used in high end pianos. Electronic actions are becoming increasingly popular due to their ease of maintenance and lower costs.

Some pianos weigh several hundred pounds. Others weigh less than 100 lbs.

Different Types of Pianos

Piano has been around since the early 1700’s. The first known instrument was built by Bartolomeo Cristofori in 1714. He called his invention “The New Invention” because he believed it was a major improvement over existing instruments. In fact he invented the modern grand piano. His design included a mechanism which allowed him to play two notes simultaneously. This innovation became known as polyphony.

In 1817 Steinway & Sons introduced the first upright piano. Since then there have been many different types of pianos developed. Today there are three main categories of pianos: acoustic electric and electronic. Each type offers its own unique advantages and disadvantages.

Acoustic Pianos

An acoustic piano is the most popular choice among musicians. Acoustic pianos produce sound using hammers striking strings. There are four main parts of an acoustic piano: the action the hammer assembly the key bed and the soundboard.

Action – The action is where the keys are located. It includes the pedals the damper pedal and the sustain pedal.

Hammer Assembly – The hammer assembly contains the hammers and the felt.

Key Bed – The key bed holds the strings.

Soundboard – The soundboard is the resonating chamber.

Electric Pianos

Electric pianos are powered by electricity rather than by hand-cranked mechanisms. Electric pianos are quieter than acoustic pianos. However they lack the rich tone quality of acoustic pianos.

Electro-mechanical (EM) – EM pianos contain both mechanical and electrical components.

Digital – Digital pianos are completely electronic.

Computer Keyboards – Keyboard controllers allow users to control the volume pitch and timbre of sounds produced by the piano.
