  He practiced law in London. During this period of his career, he met William Wordsworth. Wordsworth encouraged him to write a poem called “Lines Composed Upon Westminster Bridge.” Although the poem didn’t receive much attention, it did inspire Lewis to start writing.

The Plot Of Shadowlands

In Shadowlands, the main characters are Arthur Pendragon and Lancelot du Lac. Both men fall in love with Guenevere, queen of England. She loves both men equally. But she chooses Lancelot over Arthur. Because of this, Arthur becomes angry and decides to kill himself. He leaves his kingdom to his son Mordred. Meanwhile, King Arthur has been resurrected by Merlin. Now he must fight against Mordred and his evil half brother Morgana.

The Characters In Shadowlands

Arthur Pendragon is king of Britain. He falls in love with Guenevere, queen of England. Despite being married to another woman, he pursues Guenevere romantically. Eventually, she accepts his advances. But before they consummate their relationship, she learns that Arthur killed her husband. She rejects him.

King Arthur’s son Mordred is born during the course of the novel. He grows up hating his father. Later, he plots to overthrow his father and become king. He succeeds in doing so. But he doesn’t live happily ever after. He dies tragically.

Mordred’s evil half brother Morgana is introduced later in the novel. He hates his brother and wants to destroy him. He tries to seduce Guenevere into betraying Arthur. But she refuses.
