How to choose the
best toile curtains

What is the Purpose Of A Toile Curtains?

Curtains are very important part of our homes because they give us privacy while we sleep. But there are many different types of curtains available today which include blinds, roller shades, Roman shade, pleated curtain, etc. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. So let’s discuss each type of curtains briefly here.

Blinds

The most common kind of window covering is called Blinds. There are two main kinds of blinds; vertical blinds and horizontal blinds. Vertical blinds are hung vertically across the width of the windows whereas horizontal blinds hang horizontally along the length of the window. Both these types of blinds are operated using cords attached to the bottom rail of the blinds.

Roller Shades

Another popular choice among homeowners is Roller Shades. Unlike blinds, roller shades are rolled up into tubes and stored away during non-use. In order to open and close the roller shades, a cord is pulled tight around the tube. Once the desired position is reached, the cord is released and the shade rolls itself down.

Roman Shade

This is another popular option for those who wish to keep sunlight out of their bedrooms. Roman shades are typically installed inside the window frame and cover only half of the window opening. The rest of the window remains uncovered. Like roller shades, roman shades are opened and closed manually via a pull string.

Pleated Curtain

These curtains are quite easy to operate. All you need to do is lift the top edge of the curtain and draw it towards you. Pleated curtains are ideal for rooms where light needs to be controlled. However, pleated curtains cannot block out direct sunlight completely.

Tapestry

Tapestries are beautiful pieces of art that can beautify your room. Tapestries are woven fabrics that are created using threads of wool, silk, cotton, linen, rayon, nylon, polyester, acrylic, and others. Some tapestries are hand painted and embroidered. Others are machine stitched. Tapestries are generally hung on walls or ceilings.

There are several options available for window treatments including valances, cornices, shutters, draperies, and others. Window treatments are designed to enhance the beauty of your windows. For example, drapery panels can create

The Importance of Purchasing Quality Curtains

Curtains are important because they allow light into our homes while providing privacy. However, many times we overlook the fact that choosing the right type of curtain material can be very difficult. There are different types of materials available today which include cotton, silk, linen, polyester, etc. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here are some tips to keep in mind when selecting the best fabric for your window treatments.

Fabric Type

There are two main categories of fabrics; natural fibers and synthetic fibers. Natural fiber includes cotton, wool, jute, hemp, ramie, sisal, flax, linen, rayon, bamboo, and others. Synthetic fibers include acrylic, nylon, spandex, modacrylic, olefin, polypropylene, polyethylene, vinyl, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyester, and blends thereof. Some of these fabrics are treated to resist fading, mildew, mold, dirt, dust mites, allergens, and bacteria. Others are treated to repel water, oil, grease, and chemicals.

Natural fibers contain cellulose, lignin, hemicelluloses, pectins, waxes, oils, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins, pigments, and colorants. Cotton contains 95% cellulose, 3-5% lignin, 1-2% protein, 0.1-0.4% mineral salts, and trace amounts of fat, waxes, and pigments. Wool consists of 80% keratin, 15% protein, 5% moisture, 2% ash, and traces of lipids, waxes, and pigments. Hemp contains 90% cellulose, 10% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Jute contains 85% cellulose, 12% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Ramie contains 75% cellulose, 20% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Sisal contains 70% cellulose, 25% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Flax contains 60% cellulose, 30% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Linen contains 50% cellulose, 40% lignin, and traces of saponins, tannins, and resins. Rayon contains 100% cellulose.

Features To Look For In A Curtains

Get ready! Before you turn on the heat, check that everything is plugged in correctly. Make sure electrical sockets are switched off and unplugged from wall outlets.

Turn it on! Once you’ve got everything set up, switch on the main power supply (usually located near the front door). Then, open the windows and doors to

Types of Curtain Materials

There are many different kinds of curtain materials available today. Some are very durable while others are meant to be washed frequently. There are several factors to take into consideration when choosing which type of material works best for you.

Fabric

The most common fabric found in window treatments is cotton. Cotton has been around since ancient times and still remains popular because it is easy to care for and washable. However, cotton does absorb moisture making it susceptible to mildew and mold growth. Fabric curtains are typically treated with stain repellent finishes to keep the color bright and vibrant.

Linen

This natural fiber comes from flax plants. Linen curtains are known for being breathable and lightweight. Because linen is naturally airy, it tends to dry quickly. Linen curtains are generally considered to be easier to maintain than cotton curtains. Linen curtains are also resistant to fading and wrinkling.

Polyester

These days polyester curtains are becoming increasingly popular due to its durability and ease of maintenance. Polyester curtains are commonly referred to as “poly.” Polyester curtains are extremely strong and last longer than traditional fabrics. Unlike cotton, polyester curtains are machine washable and wrinkle free.

Wool

Wool is another option for those who enjoy the warmth provided by wool. Wool curtains are warm and cozy. While wool curtains are relatively inexpensive, they require frequent washing. Washing wool curtains requires special attention to avoid shrinking.

Silk

Silk curtains are luxurious and elegant. Silk curtains are incredibly beautiful and delicate. Silk curtains are difficult to care for and must be handwashed regularly. Silk curtains are also prone to shrinkage.

Tencel

Tencel curtains are a combination of silk and rayon. Tencel curtains are both light weight and highly durable. Like silk curtains, tencel curtains are difficult to care for and must be handwashed regularly.
